It is Saturday, March 8 [International Women's Day 2014], but will you
once more just wear your activist T-shirts and slim fit jeans, chant the
slogans, organise series of parades and round tables to discuss the usual list
of women's issues and then draw everything to a close till 2015?
Or will you more willingly live the wonderful theme: “Equality for
women is progress for all”...because that's the essence
I know we still have idiots who see women as mere belongings and
longings even in the face of the femaleness of their mothers, sisters, aunts
and nieces, but should that put y’all off, don't y’all have others who are not
troubled by your strength, who have always signed up to celebrate you, see
y’all as contemporaries to be valued and not just tolerated.
Happy International Women's Day to women all around the world, but
particularly my beautiful women friends! Stay tough, stay gorgeous, stay
brilliant and practical, don’t let your dedication fritter away, remain classy
and fabulous; take all your detractors and their disbelieves as springboards to
your advantage
