Black and white isn't always black and white...

People lie, that's why the word is in existence, and people will keep lying, even under oath.
So, just like "the official story" is sometimes doctored "for the greater good," or at least the (confabulated) claim, people fabricate stories in order to fill gaps in the stories they want to sell.

And just like history is not always the exact story of what happened, not every evidence presented with respect to a thing, or the reputation, conduct or moral standing of another is as black and white.

For what it's worth, don't let any secondary source knowledge make you cynical. Putting on your thinking cap may seem a complex process, but I believe it involves the same brain mechanisms as venturing nonsense. So, think!
