I did a little research and I saw that Socrates
was called "an immoral corrupter of youth," but who's now drawing
reference from his wisdom to motivate the youth? According to wikipedia.org,
and about adding voice to motion pictures, someone said: “who the hell wants to
hear actors talk?" Now that’s nonsense; who the hell wants to watch mute
actors, because even porn is dull without the oh-oh-ah.
Someone said: "X-rays will prove to be a
hoax." Another one said: "Television won't last because people will
soon get tired of staring at a plywood box every night." Someone in 1977
said: "There is no reason for any individual to have a computer in his
home." An earlier British Post Office engineer said: "The Americans
have need of the telephone, but we (meaning British) do not. We have plenty of
messenger boys."
A Professor of Strategy once said:
"Airplanes are interesting toys but of no military value" - strategic
indeed! Someone was advised not to invest in the Ford Motor Company because:
"The horse is here to stay but the automobile is only a novelty - a
fad." In fact the automobile was said to have reached the limit of its
development in 1909. I guess they never saw Lamborghini's newest super-cars coming.
Someone even said: "Everything that can be
invented has been invented." Now imagine your life today if everyone had
listened to the idea that inventions have long since reached their ceiling and
there’s no hope for future improvements.
So tell me, what makes you so special that
people aren’t going to deny, oppose, refuse, or be sceptical and contemptuous
about everything you seek to attain? Can’t you see that for as long as you’re
trying, people will see nothing but gloom and doom until bloom or boom comes
along. They’ll see nothing but problems until you offer solutions and the
outcome of everything you’re looking for will be forecasted detrimental until
proven beneficial.
You’ll be judged and placed on the wrong side
until you demonstrate yourself above doubt. They’re so myopic that every
innovation that is of no immediate benefit to them is seen as a waste of time.
Some people even call the articles I do on here a waste of time, but what a useful waste
of time, because even if no one reads them, every single article I write
improves my ability to write.
So in the interest of crisis management, don’t
let misguided judgements and assumptions dictate your actions and priorities. Know
that you will never do or achieve anything great without frustration along the
way and without an iota of pessimism from people around you, and if your path
is off these two hooks, then my friend you should be afraid.
