The number of unjust dismissals in
the Gambia between ‘94 and ‘96 was outrageous – that’s a fact. The new
government having launched a committee to look into the wrongful dismissals of
the old is laudable. However, the exercise targeting '97 and beyond seems
inequitable. Personally, I feel that lot of aggrieved folks will feel
neglected. I don't know, perhaps the decision was weighted considering the
amount of possible compensations, or just implying that folks fired before 97 are
statute-barred. Whatever it is, I see some Babylonian bias.
