When one does a piece of work, gives, or acts on his own free will to support an institution or to achieve an end, probably because it was needed and nobody was willing to do it, what he gives is what you get, because there's no legal requirement or contract that compels him to do it.
However, a professional that was appointed, given the right tools and handsomely rewarded to support an institution or to achieve an end is not expected to just try, or to give a best that's not good enough; he's supposed to do well. Anything lacking that expected degree of outcome is straight-up incompetence or unwillingness.
But until we become aware of this fact, the 'tanneh na' or 'try na' syndrome, the 'maslaha' tendency, acceptance of bare minimum results, and satisfaction with mediocre abilities and achievements will be here for donkey's years.
