Gramps Morgan said: “If you love humanity then you will fight for
equality - and if you love humanity then you will fight for justice and peace -
you should never see you brother crying and ignore his pain - you should never
see your sister walking down the wrong lane" [Morgan Heritage - Helping
Hand lyrics]
Sadly and inexcusably, some nutcases somewhere in South Africa have
totally lost grip on this reality. Like all nutcases, they probably got up one
morning with a resentful yawn and a stretch and said: “Okay! Whose life are we
going to fuck up today? Oh, we get it - these hardworking foreigners think they
can come here and be more successful and useful to our country than our useless
selves? NEVER! We’re going to destroy them and scare the rest.”
So they got down to a separateness triggered by misplaced resentment,
butchering and burning innocent fellow black people, forgetting who stood up
for them during the country's bloody apartheid. Well, I guess the saying that
humans are capable of roasting their fellow humans is not so metaphorical after
all.
I am not trying to tar everyone with the same brush. I know some sensible
South Africans who must be appalled right now, and if asked to choose between
being South African and being creatures in Alien franchise, they’ll go for the
latter and gladly sever ties with these morally low countrymen. The enlightened
South Africans that I know have compassion and don’t have the heart to inflict
pain on an insect, not to mention a fellow human being.
