Don't mind useless people.

Some started from the bottom now they're on top and others started from the top now they’re at the bottom. Being a part of the second tier can be disheartening, especially in our part of the world, but it is going to be more depressing if you cannot stand tall after everything and grind even harder.

My observations about life have taught me that sometimes adversities are destined to open up life-changing doors, if you believe that is. And once you were there before, you’re naturally expected to be familiar with the tools and more than likely to live the life again.

The worst of people are those who cannot be counted on to do anything, never attempted to be/do anything other than making excuses for being as useless as my tits – they probably never even won a Nintendo game, but can derive pleasure from the misfortunes of those who once were.

If you ask me, it is but guilty pleasure and their desire is to paralyse your thoughts and dissuade you from taking any action. Don’t allow it - you may be broke today but you’re not as morally and mentally broke as they are.

Walls do not talk, people do.

Metaphorical, allegorical or ‘whatever-cal’, I don’t care what you call it, just don’t lay blame on innocent walls – walls do not talk, people do.

If you let a private matter slip, even behind closed doors and you eventually get squealed on, blame yourself for having absolute trust in the sincerity of people and for opening your heart to a slippery mouth.

Secrecy is not a familiar territory for someone who is not in charge of his tongue; don’t even look forward to it. Such people are better off if they're not given anything to talk about.

As a final point, after learning from your blunder, lift up your head and overstand that the enemy is the one who dropped your secret and not those who picked it up. So don’t blame those who were only made aware - everyone wants to be in the picture, we just don’t want to be pictured on.

Do you relate?

Maybe they do it for the sake of motivation, but really, I find it funny when some affluent people talk about success and they limit the means to talent, hard work and determination, discounting opportunity and luck from the formula.

Here on social media especially, even some hipster looking rich kid who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had everything handed to him on a silver platter, or perhaps propped up to work the system can talk big about chasing dreams and how to cope with pain before gain.

Listen - if you never had to trek endless miles to school in patched up uniform and shoes and your books in a plastic bag, never had to go to bed hungry after a very tedious farm duty or sleep under a roof with countless eye-holes, my friend you don’t relate and you cannot tell me anything about pain or survival skill.

Your borrowed motivational speeches are only welcome if in the end you’re going create some form of opportunity, otherwise you and your overblown curriculum vitae can go to [insert noun]. I suggest you go to your alma-mater (Brat High School) and address the kids there.

Hear what Napoleon Bonaparte said; he said “ability is of little (or no) account without opportunity.” Someone also said “if wealth was the inevitable result of hard work and enterprise, every woman in Africa would be a millionaire” and they’re both right.

Now let us be frank, and you tell me, with the exception of temporary cash-flow hitches, what else do you know about pain? Sumala mbejay nga waydi sa borom!

Don’t let the carry-go-bring-come get away with falsehood.

When you're fairly affluent or influential in a world where people are only concerned about what they can get, it is very important and healthful to overstand what they’re capable of doing.

Some folks will try to inflate your ego or manufacture mischievous stories about other people in their vicious effort to get close to you, to get back at, gain victory over or keep bad feelings upon those that they point their cunning fingers at.

If you ask me, don’t let the carry-go-bring-come get away with falsehood. Rather than acting on impulse and be apologetic soon after, and for taking an unforgivable side, try to look at the positive side of the one that whistle is being blown on and in knowing that time will verily tell on the liar.

If you think the devil is a liar...

If you think the devil is a liar, you've not heard from someone trying to buy time for an appointment he is running late for. The person can be at home or even in the shower and claim to be just a split second away.

I know someone like that –when he tells you “Hai boy, mangi ni aksi na, giss nala sah” (like he’s almost there and is even seeing you), you can go to Fatoto and back, because he’s donkey’s miles away, and when all his convincing lies are exhausted, something that was never an issue is held responsible, traffic mostly.

Self Directed Rehab!

My desire for attention was so awful that I could go to extreme lengths to suck it out of people. I hated to play a part in anything that wouldn’t throw me in the spotlight.

I behaved as if mine was the most glorious soul, and anyone who disagreed with me was a living disgrace. I singled out, frowned on and passed judgment on random people.

That was before I came to realise that I was trapped by a self that had to succumb before the emergence of a nobler self; a self that is resolved to no longer view the world selfishly and despite all the selfishness.

Some things are just implied!

Some comments on certain events are only incidental and not central to the intention of the commenter. The event is perhaps brought into play to keep the object implied for a wise audience.

An example is: you want to tell an obese homegirl to watch her weight, but you don’t feel comfortable expressing it openly. Tact allows you to do so without being direct. You may for instance draw on a certain body type and say: “Wow! Look at this; nothing is sexier than a nice body – man! A lady should watch her weight.”

See, you weren’t sarcastic –I don’t think so. You didn’t throw shade or call any name either, but I should expect you to be tacitly overstood…‘daha ginarr wahalleh sohla’ if you like – not best, but not bad for an attempt…howma sah, I guess junja doye na borom khel!

You only get one life to live...

I’m sure some of you’ll remember my bashing of those kids who fervently trust that “you only live once” (YOLO), mostly to feed their desire ...
