What
if you’re made ‘Chief Patron’, ‘Première Njekeh’, ‘Deuxième Nijai’ or
‘Yayi or Bayi Compin’; does that keep a tight rein on you to not humble down to
the fact that you do not have, if you do not have?
Why should you borrow, beg or scrounge to painfully quench such requests? Weren’t they foolish to expect 'have' from 'lack'; don’t you think their desire is to pull you down? Think!
And who said you’ll be put to shame or shown-up if do not show-off; is your distasteful act of 'fakery' not twice as discreditable as not doing it? Since when did generosity that you’ll pay through your nose turn into an obligation? In the end, when you start feeling gloomy about what you’ve done or failed to do, will anyone of them bother to raise your spirits?
